“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” – I Corinthians 15:58
Would you be shocked if I said that this is a wonderful time to work in pro-life ministry? Well, I believe it is, because the lines are so clearly drawn. For several weeks the social media and conservative news feeds have been blowing up with the news that Planned Parenthood is selling fetal body parts. There is an opportunity to speak life in the public square almost daily, whether you work in a pro-life ministry like I do, or not. At Hope, we want to make sure our words reflect love and a clear expression of the fact that we are FOR life – not AGAINST people or other organizations.
In the first few days after the initial video from The Center For Medical Progress was released, Hope Women’s Centers issued a Press Release expressing our dismay over the facts that were being exposed. We published a couple of blogs, trying to address the issue with love and compassion in the midst of the lies and deception. We have aimed to focus on positive steps people can take to protect life.
As a ministry, we have resolved to follow wise words that were attributed to Winston Churchill during World War II; an entire ad campaign was launched with the reminder to avoid panic when the air raids began. We, too, are going to KEEP CALM and CARRY ON. We have work to do! We are praying for the people who are blinded to the inestimable worth of human life; we are asking that God remove the scales from their eyes. It is not impossible! Former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson walked away from her clinic several years ago because faithful Christians reached out to her and loved her. Now she leads a ministry, Then There Were None, helping other abortion clinic workers transition out of the gruesome industry that holds them captive. Our labor is not in vain.
We want Hope Women’s Centers Medical Clinics to be like the city on a hill, drawing women who need our help. These videos have touched raw nerves of women and men who have chosen abortion in the past, and many people around us are in deep pain…suffering silently as they sit in the pews, feeling like they can never surrender the secret that holds them captive. If you or someone you know needs help dealing with a past abortion, there is hope! Check out our Hope Restored, our abortion recovery program and make a phone call…healing can start today.
Today we have 16 patients scheduled for pregnancy tests. We have 11 young ladies who have appointments for ultrasound exams. Our staff is standing by, fully prepared to offer them hope, to tell them the truth, and to do everything in our power to protect life — the life of the unborn child AND the life of the mother.
I just want you (our constituents and our donors) to know that we are not in a panic. We are trusting God to help us stand firm and continue the work He called us to…speaking life to one woman at a time in the privacy of our clinics. It is easy to get distracted by the hurricane that swirls around us in the media, but we have resolved to give ourselves fully to the work before us.
As always, we need your help. Pray for us, volunteer at a center, participate in our Walk For Life, and Give as you are able.
