Hope Women's Center

Pray, Give, Volunteer

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

For the past 30 years, we have worked to have thriving pregnancy centers where we serve women and men who are facing unplanned pregnancy decisions. Today we offer our free and confidential services at multiple locations in Broward County, and each clinic is staffed by trained, caring, and compassionate employees and volunteers.

We have grown quite a bit since our humble beginnings. In 1987, a small group of concerned Christians opened the doors of “A Woman’s Pregnancy Center”,  Broward’s very first pregnancy resource center. Their mission was to offer alternatives to abortion for women who were facing unplanned pregnancies. Since that time we have prayed for God to expand our work in Broward County, and He has been answering those prayers. To read more of our history, click HERE. Now we are a trusted resource in our community and have a reputation for offering non-judgmental compassionate professional care to our patients.

We want to highlight several ways you and your organization or church can partner with Hope:

PRAY

This may be a given for many, but we believe that it has been God working through the prayers of our partners that has made us who we are today. Once a month, we update a prayer list of four main areas we are asking our Partners in Hope to join with us in praying for. These four items appear on the right side bar on this website. We are more than medical clinics that meet physical needs of our patients, we are caring, compassionate counselors who recognize that we are on the front lines in a spiritual battle for the lives of the unborn.

We often get to speak with our patients about God’s love, His wonderful plan for every life, and at times we are able to share the Gospel and lead our patients to Christ!  We know we deal with spiritual forces that do not desire for Hope to thrive in Broward. Please keep our mission strong by joining with us in prayer.

GIVE

When we say we could not serve our patients without the support of individuals and local organizations, we are not exaggerating. Hope is financially supported by businesses and individuals, as well as churches, private foundations, and grants. In addition to these income streams, two special events are held each year to provide for the on-going financial needs. The backbone of our funding is the monthly donor program, which helps provide a steady cash flow. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit and all gifts are tax-deductible. FED EIN 65-0213258. VOLUNTEER

While we very much need both women and men to volunteer, we wanted to highlight a specific need we have in the area of volunteers:

January and February 2017, we had: 268 boyfriends, 33 finances, and 24 husbands come into our medical centers with their partners. Our two male volunteers were able to meet with 20 of these men, but that left 305 men sitting alone in our waiting rooms during the many shifts where no male counselor was available.

Research shows that the single most influential person on a woman’s decision whether to carry her child or abort rests on the shoulders of the baby’s father. Further study reveals that children who have fathers who are actively involved in their lives are healthier in every way than their fatherless peers. Fathers are a big deal!

This year we are re-establishing “Men of Hope,” a program that trains male volunteers to speak life to the men that come into our centers so that these young fathers-to-be can receive the same kind of encouragement and support to choose life that we have offered to women for the last three decades.

We are looking for a few good men. MEN: if you feel drawn to reach other men – this is an excellent way to serve. You do not need to have previous training, we will train you. The first step is contacting us and attending our Volunteer Orientation.

Beyond Men of Hope, we have volunteers serving in every aspect of Hope Women’s Centers: Board of Directors, client advocates, administration, events, facilities, medical advisory team, ultrasound assistants who chaperone the exams, sonographers, and community affairs. We also need Spanish and Creole-speaking volunteers. If God is calling you o volunteer, we can help help you find the right place and then equip you to serve. First step: attend our Volunteer Orientation.
