This is a follow-up to our April 24 article about women who are at risk for choosing abortion. Recently, Fox News posted this very compassionate article by Jason Wright that caused me to think about the women right here in our own community who might be pregnant and considering abortion today.
If I could send a letter to every pregnant woman in Broward County who is thinking about terminating an unexpected or badly timed pregnancy, I think it would read something like this:

Remember, any woman of childbearing age can be at-risk for choosing abortion. It isn’t always the teenager or the college student who thinks about abortion. Career women worry about sacrificing their education and financial success in the face of a badly-timed pregnancy. A surprise pregnancy too early in a marriage or too late in life may be seen as a threat to a woman’s well-being…other health issues or an adverse medical diagnosis may cause a woman to think about terminating a pregnancy. Financial crisis can put pressure on any woman to the point that she cannot see her way clear to continue her pregnancy – unless someone can offer her a hope that she believes is realistic.
Women need a safe place to go where they can talk about their concerns and get reliable information about pregnancy and abortion. They need a place where no one will profit financially from the decision that they make. They need a place where they can be sure that their conversation is completely confidential, and where their thoughts will not be judged. Hope Women’s Centers is that place.
If you know someone who is facing an unplanned pregnancy, send them our way.
