When Juanita walked through our doors she was scared and alone.
I knew there was no way my boyfriend would help support a baby – and I knew my parents would freak out when they found out I was pregnant. I didn’t know what to do.
She left after her first visit with a resolve to give life to the tiny person she had met on the ultrasound screen. “After seeing my precious baby, I knew it didn’t matter what anyone else said. I would give my baby the gift of life. I still wasn’t sure I could raise a baby on my own, but my counselor at Hope reminded me that I had almost eight months to figure that out!”
With encouragement from our staff, and a clear understanding of her options, Juanita sat down with her boyfriend and both sets of parents and talked things through. To her surprise, her boyfriend wanted to see an ultrasound of the baby…the pictures she brought home moved him to tears and he assured her he would step up and be a man and help her raise the baby.
Both parents pledged their support, and baby Jessica was born last January. Juanita and Tyson know they have a long road ahead, but they are committed to being good parents for their little girl.
Juanita says,
I can’t imagine my life without Jessica! When I think how close I came to choosing abortion, I just want to cry! I am so thankful to Hope Women’s Centers for being there for me and helping me make a wise choice. This is the best Christmas of my life!
