I Am Not Helpless

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?” Proverbs 24:11-12

Isn’t is frustrating to feel helpless? That’s the way I feel this morning after reading the various newsfeeds and seeing video #6 that was released this week from the Center for Medical Progress, continuing to expose the dark underside of the abortion industry. The vote in the Senate a couple of weeks ago was a disappointment (although not a surprise), as we witnessed the fact that there were not even 60 Senators in our nation who would stand up for life by voting to de-fund Planned Parenthood. So, even though I am RADICALLY pro-life, I am forced to pay for the destruction of human life through my tax dollars. It is aggravating because it does make me feel helpless!

None of the “experts” expected the Senate to approve the bill to defund Planned Parenthood, but I guess I held onto the hope that God would somehow intervene and turn the hearts of at least 60 Senators to vote YES and stop the madness. He chose not to, this time. But I still believe, like Daniel, that my God is able to do so at whatever moment it may please Him to show His power and His glory.

I watched this latest video, I was once again shocked by the blatant disregard for the law and the total absence of any kind of respect for the women that are patients in these clinics and the lack of respect for the dignity of human life overall. It is easy to feel helpless if we concentrate on the condition of the world we live in.

So, I have CHOSEN not to feel helpless. It’s all about CHOICE, right?

Instead, I look at the fact that maybe these are the best days of my life. Maybe I was born “for such a time as this.”  I am only one woman, but I am not helpless. I have a Heavenly Father who is on my side and walks through every valley with me. He has loved me enough and trusted me enough to lead a ministry that saves and changes lives. I have been privileged to see Him do miracle after miracle at Hope Women’s Centers for over 25 years! I can’t think of any reason why He would want to stop now.

If you are tempted to feel helpless, don’t do it! Instead, do something pro-active and be part of the solution to saving lives right here in Broward County.
