Cindy is just one of the amazing volunteers we have at Hope Women’s Centers. Cindy currently serves as a client advocate meeting with the woman that come into our centers. We asked Cindy to share her story and she freely did in hopes others may be encouraged to volunteer.
I am often asked, “What do you do?” and I respond with, “I volunteer my time at Hope Women’s Centers.” Very seldom am I asked “Why?” If asked, I respond that my motivation to serve those who are broken in this dark world comes from my love for my Savior, Jesus Christ.
Growing up, I was confronted by just how broken things are in every area of life – from families, to churches, to medicine and in government services. I also became very lost as I entered the world as an adult and left the faith foundations that I had been raised with and taught, especially by my Grandmother.
I made a lot of bad choices based on peer pressure and bad advice, as well as just listening to my own messed up thoughts!
I wish I had someone that I could have talked with who could have given me wise counsel and pointed me in the right direction.
When I was finally introduced to the compassion and patience of God as He brought me to true faith through an understanding of the work that His Son accomplished on the cross to redeem me, the desire of my heart has been to help women avoid bad choices that have enduring consequences. Using my time, talents, and gifts are my greatest joy in service to the One who loved me more than life.
Hope Women’s Centers provides a safe place where women can speak confidentially and hear the truth. Our clients are given information, encouragement and a safe place where they can step out of the darkness and be exposed to the Light and Love of God. My hope is that they will hear what true Hope really means. Hope makes all the difference in the lives of young women and men when they face an unplanned pregnancy!
