Discover Volunteering

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

There are so many places to volunteer, helping with the many needs locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. We believe that volunteering at Hope is a great decision and is incredibly rewarding.

Our volunteers along with our staff meet with women and men in their most vulnerable moments. Patients arrive at our centers often feeling overwhelmed, anxious, confused, and scared. We use trained volunteers and staff to meet each patient, offering them hope, sharing truth, and educating them about their options so they can make informed decisions regarding their unplanned pregnancies.

You should consider volunteering at Hope Women’s Centers IF:

  1. you feel strongly about the case for life, believing that all human life is of inestimable worth and significant in all its stages, including pre-born babies, the elderly, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death.

  2. you want to volunteer someplace where you can be certain you are making a real difference in the lives of those you serve.

Our work provides compassion, hope, and help to women and men considering abortion. We see them as individuals who are loved by God, with infinite potential. Over the 30+ years we have served patients and trained volunteers to care for patients, we have been asked lots of questions.

Top three questions we are asked about volunteering:

1. What can volunteers do to help?

ANSWER: If you can commit to a weekly 4-hour shift, there are lots of ways to serve!

  1. Patient advocates

  2. Receptionists and clerical assistants

  3. Sonographers and nurses

  4. Medical assistants

  5. Ultrasound assistants

If working directly with patients is not for you, know that volunteers also serve in other types of roles:

  1. church liaisons

  2. event volunteers (individuals volunteer at specific Hope events throughout the year)

  3. computer repairmen, IT specialists

  4. handymen, cleaning service providers

  5. exterminators, plumbers, painters

  6. donated professional services: professional printers, graphic artists, photographers, videographers

2. How long is the commitment for?

ANSWER: We ask individuals serving in the centers to commit to a weekly 4-hour shift. We recognize that there are seasons where this commitment might not be possible and we do our best to work with each volunteer to find a schedule that meets their availability. Each center has slightly different business hours. These hours can be found here.

3. Do I need previous experience or training to volunteer?

ANSWER: Absolutely not. We will even go a step further to say that at Hope we have learned that wounded healers can sometimes be the best healers. God may have uniquely prepared you with a crisis pregnancy or an abortion in your past. You might think that disqualifies you, but it may provide you with a compassion that comes from the way God ministered to you in your own experience. Our Volunteer Orientation and in-the-center training provides individuals with a clear format for learning. If God is calling you, we will equip you!

Without dedicated volunteers coming in to help each and every day that our centers are open, we would not have a 30+ year history of serving patients in Broward County.

You might be thinking, “I wish I could volunteer, but it’s impossible for me right now. But I would still like to learn more about how I can help minister to women and men who might be considering abortion.” If your church group would like to learn how to make life disciples, we encourage you to purchase the “Making Life Disciples curriculum which is an initiative of Care Net, our national affiliate. It was developed as a resource for churches who want to partner with pregnancy resource centers to embrace a culture of life.

If volunteering for Hope Women’s Centers is on your list of goals for this year, make plans to be at our Volunteer Orientation! Even if you are just curious about what it would be like to volunteer, we think you will learn a lot in this introductory seminar. We encourage you to come discover what it means to volunteer at Hope.

Take the first step in volunteering at Hope. Join us at our next orientation.
