Discover Everyday Heroes

Updated: Apr 21, 2023

So it was, from that time on, that half of my servants worked at construction, while the other half held the spears, the shields, the bows, and wore armor; and the leaders were behind all the house of Judah. Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. Nehemiah 4:16-17

As I began writing this blog, I was reminded of the story of Nehemiah. Jerusalem was in shambles. Their city walls were destroyed, and the enemy had access. They were hurting and needed someone to lead the way. Nehemiah could lead, but he couldn’t rebuild the walls himself – it was too big of a task for one person.

We feel the same. We may be leading the pro-abundant life cause in Broward County, but we cannot rebuild families in our community alone.

We lose approximately 35 unborn babies daily to abortion in Broward County alone! We co-exist with 21 abortion clinics. The enemy has invaded our county. We are outnumbered 7 abortion clinics to 1 Hope Center. Building this new Pines Center and keeping our other three centers open often feels like the Israelites must have felt in Nehemiah’s day. We have our armor on and pray often. We are very aware of the battle that rages; yet, there is still building that needs to be done. Newly forming families need us to fight for them. The mothers need us to fight for them. The fathers need us to fight for them. And, the unborn child especially needs us to fight for them, but we cannot restore and rebuild our community without the help of everyday heroes.

Who am I speaking of?

  1. Our Volunteers who help at the clinics, events, and to count change in baby bottles.

  2. The women who donated brand new baby clothes that we were able to give to our patients who were in our annual photo shoot.

  3. The groups of ladies who donated homemade blankets and gift cards, so we could bless our patients.

And for our new center, we have had so many heroes come through:

  1. The new church plant that donated money for paint and other startup costs.

  2. The private donor who paid for the labor for our center to be painted.

  3. The local flooring contractor who donated the beautiful flooring.

What we do is a team effort. We may be like Nehemiah, but you are the ones rebuilding our communities. We have discovered God’s provision through everyday heroes like YOU!

And for that, we want to say: “Thank you for being a hero for LIFE!”
