We just wrapped up the first quarter of the year and we are excited to host our second Volunteer Orientation on: Thursday, April 20th from 7:00-9:00PM.
Attending this orientation is the first step in becoming a volunteer. We hope to see you there! For more information and to register, click HERE. SW BROWARD CENTER
One of the three new initiatives we highlighted at the banquet was the opening of a much-needed center in southwestern Broward, somewhere in the Pembroke Pines or Miramar area. There is no pro-life presence between our Davie Center and the Heartbeat Center in Hialeah, 32 miles away! We canNOT open this center without you. Target date for opening: October 2017.
For this new center we still need: FINANCES: Startup costs are $50,000 + $130,000 for the first year of operations.
CHURCHES: we currently have 10 supporting churches in the service area and we are looking for 5 more churches to commit monthly support before opening in October.
MONTHLY PARTNERS: we have a goal to enlist 50 new monthly partners in The 360 Club (a monthly pledge of $30 X 12 = annual gift of $360).
STAFF & BOARD: We will be hiring 4 new staff members (Client Services Director, Center Administrator, Patient Advocate, Nurse or RDMS). We will also look for additional board members from churches in the service area.
VOLUNTEERS: We need to train 10 volunteers to serve as Patient Advocates before opening day.
#1 PRAYER NEED RIGHT NOW: to find the perfect location that is already built out as a medical or counseling facility.
A PASTOR’S VIEWPOINT
There were people at our 30th Anniversary Banquet from 85 different churches, and 30 pastors were present. We are so thankful for our local churches. Their support and partnership enables us to come alongside them as they reach their mission of caring for modern-day orphans and widows. Pastor Brian Brookins at Riverside Church shared with us after the banquet:
“This year’s banquet was a total success from my vantage point. I was so excited to hear about the rebirth of the men’s ministry along with the expansion of medical services. It was a huge encouragement to hear of the faith to open a much-needed center in the Southwest part of Broward. Thank you and thank you to the board and staff for not shrinking back, but pushing us forward with fresh and God-pleasing faith. The best part of the evening was our main speaker. Very seldom do I hear that kind of presentation that presents real and God-given solutions to the issues of our day. Roland Warren brought a dual emphasis that filled an enormous gap in our current efforts. He called us to see that men and family are not appendages to this issue. Reaching fathers is not optional and IS an inclusive ministry, which envisions, calls, heals and equips men; which is essential for us to win the day. Secondly, the clear call for the Church to be the Church and to own issues of life thrilled my soul. This is not merely a good strategy, or even just the right strategy. This is the only strategy that will work. It is nothing short of God-given. Mr. Warren’s presentation was winsome, thoughtful, and provocative. I especially appreciate that he didn’t try to make a “splash” and impress for the short term. For the sake of all that is holy, how in the world can we elevate entertainment aspects of a presentation like this when one million plus babies are aborted every year? If that doesn’t get our attention, then go back to sleep! No! We need discerning and revealing leaders who lead us to God’s solutions and do not shrink back with His answers. When the enemy comes in like a flood, our God will raise up a standard. Nothing is too difficult for God. Finally, thank you for honoring the roots of Hope and for celebrating the champions of life that got us here. This is so pleasing to God and inspirational to us all. You know we here at Riverside love you and love the work we are doing together. You are helping the Church be the Church and fulfill her mission. Don’t faint!” In Him, Brian Brookins
LOOKING AHEAD
Every Year from Mother’s Day (May 14th) to Father’s Day (June 18th) we highlight our Baby Bottle Campaign, a perfect way to use your spare change to make a huge difference in the lives of new moms and dads. Get a bottle and fill it with coins, bills and/or checks and bless others choosing life for their unborn children. This campaign works great with short-term missions projects for your small group, youth group, the office, and even at home with your family and friends. Call Laurie at 954-372-7089 or email her to pick up your baby bottles.
